A Culinary Gem in Edinburgh's West End: The Palmerston

As my friends know , I love Scotland and am really passionate about their tourism , hospitality and cultural institutions.

Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh's West End, The Palmerston has been a delightful addition to the city's vibrant dining scene. This charming restaurant and bakery, housed in a former bank, exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere that immediately puts one at ease.

The Palmerston champions seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, crafting dishes that are both comforting and and the same time innovative

The kitchen, helmed by the talented Lloyd Morse, demonstrates a commitment to honest, gutsy cooking that's reminiscent of ( in my humble opinion )James Ferguson's approach at the Kinneuchar inn.

Upon entering,

you're greeted by the enticing aroma of freshly baked sourdough – a hallmark of both establishments.

The Palmerston's interiors strike a perfect balance between old-world charm and contemporary cosiness, with dark wood accents, uncovered floors, and tall windows flooding the space with natural light.

The menu,

Changes daily, reflecting the best of what's available from their carefully curated network of suppliers.

From the moreish pig's head croquettes to the perfectly executed fish dishes, each plate showcases the kitchen's respect for ingredients and mastery of technique.

A standout dish during my visit was the Game Pie reminiscent of classic pub fare but elevated to a fine level with a side of chips.

The desserts, too, are a triumph – Treacle Pudding with Vanilla Ice.

Yup , im obsessed with the iconography of the black-stuff.

The Palmerston's Wine list

is as thoughtfully curated as its menu, offering a selection that complements the food beautifully.

The staff, knowledgeable and attentive, contribute significantly to the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere. What truly sets The Palmerston apart is its ability to blend the traditional with the contemporary.

It's a place where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a quick coffee and pastry, or a full-fledged dining experience.

In essence

The Palmerston embodies the best of Scottish hospitality – unpretentious, warm, and centred around excellent food. It's a restaurant that not only feeds the body but nourishes the soul, making it a must-visit for anyone in Edinburgh seeking a memorable dining experience.

Here's to a Bright Future, Rooted in Our Rich Past 🧔🏻‍♂️
