I'm thrilled to announce my appointment as the Chair of Beamish Museum Trading Limited, the commercial arm of the renowned Beamish Museum in County Durham.
This exciting new voluntary role, marks a significant milestone for me and offers an incredible opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most beloved cultural institutions.

The Opportunity
Beamish Museum has long been a cornerstone of North East England's heritage, attracting over 650,000 visitors annually and playing a vital role in preserving and showcasing our region's rich history. As a director and chair of the trading subsidiary , I'll be at the forefront of supporting commercial initiatives that support the museum's charitable mission.
My responsibilities will encompass strategic guidance and oversight of -
Retail operations, including the popular online shop ( sweeties to die for)
Catering services across the museum
Developing and nurturing partnerships with local businesses
Events , filming and specialist hires.
IP , Trademarking / Licensing
Back in time
Turning back the clock .
Vision for the Future
Beamish Museum Trading Limited is more than just a commercial entity; it's a crucial component in ensuring the museum's long-term sustainability. Every pound generated through thier activities directly supports the preservation of our heritage and the development of new exhibits, such as the exciting 1950s town project thats just opened.
I'm particularly keen to explore with the team innovative ways to blend historical authenticity with modern business practices.
This could involve:
Enhancing the digital presence to reach a wider audience
Further developing exclusive product lines that reflect Beamish's unique character
Creating immersive experiences that complement the museum's offerings
Trademarking ,licensing ,brand expansion.
